Random Shutdown: My MacBook Story *update Apple’s learning curve for applying heat sink compound

A bit of light relief

I know we’re all either depressed or frustrated or both with this whole random shutdown issue. I thought I’d bring a bit of light relief to all of us…

Remember when Apple introduced the shuffle:

Life is random

Well it looks like the MacBook has also joined in.

This banner is not an advocation against Apple in any way but rather an attempt at keeping MacBook owners smiling through the bad times.

mine did not have this problem until the second time I got it back from apple on another issue (that is, the third motherboard).

The amount of time it would stay on was roughly proportiional to how long it had been off. That is, if off for a few seconds, it would only stay on for a fraction of a second (a half or quarter of a startup chime). If off for 20 minutes, it would stay on for a few minutes. If off for hours, it would stay on quite some time.

And here’s the kicker: if I turned it on and put it to sleep, once I woke it up it would stay on for days.
