Good Genius - but Where’s My Macbook?
I too experienced an excellent genius. My blackbook would shutdown within 30 seconds after coming out of sleep - every single time. It was so replicable that the genius was amazed at how accurate my description was. He checked the console logs - nothing there. Then he booted an external harddrive, went in and out of sleep, and whammo - shutdown! This prompted an immediate request for service in the form of a logic board (though he did admit that he was betting the problem was more than that).
Unfortunately, this was 19 days ago and my part has been “on order” for 16. I’m not ready to toss in the towel and wait on hold for 1.5 hours (I have better things to do than let them abuse me with the polite “no one is available to give a crap”). Has anyone seen the new heatsink? The waiting game that they are making all of us play is poor customer service, poor engineering, and poor business in general. Will a new heatsink really solve the problem? I for one hope so - but I have lost faith. I switched from Dell to Apple and was one of the first adopters of the machine - mid-May. The cd drive died in day 3, the intel chip system has crashed keynote, pages, iInstaller for Latex, and many other great programs… I think when I get it back - It’s going on eBay and I’m going back.
It’s as if Apple put a million monkeys in a room and said “Make this macbook work!” Dance monkey! Dance!
