ibook g4 shutdown workaround
Bought a refurbished ibook g4 800Mhz from one of the dog electronic resellers. It worked fine until a year later when the machine wouldn’t start or would shut off for now reason. We thought that the problem was with the battery. Oh, the battery is one that is being recalled under the august 2006 recall. We haven’t received the new battery yet. Finally, the original fix was to tape the battery pack into the computer because although the battery lock worked, the battery pack wasn’t seated correctly in the battery compartment. Poor battery and battery compartment design is an issue with this ibook. There’s never been a problem with OS 10.3.9 that was installed. Stop by BJs Brewhouse in Cupertino that’s infront of the apple campus before returning your RSS macbook to the original designers. The food is better at Outback across the street.
There’s always too many customers asking for help or making purchases in the Palo Alto Apple store so that’s why I would go to the main campus.

I had an Ibook g4 that showed the same trouble, the battery latch had come lose, I was able to stick an old gift card from walmart on top of the battery before I put it in and it solved the trouble. It was very hard to notice the latch was loose, the battery appeared properly seated and didn’t wiggle or anything. My ibook did have an accident during a burglary at my home. Thanks to iAlertU I still have my ibook, but it scared the h3ll out of the guy and he dropped it, I had it plugged into my surround system and cranked full volume hehehe :). Anyway, I think that is how the battery came loose in the first place.
