Bring Your Macbook In!

I realize that this whole random shutdown things is upsetting and is a huge inconvenience, but let’s not over react. I brought mine in earlier this month, got it back within 2 weeks, and it has been working great ever since. The high revving of the fan has ceased, and the overall heat of the machine has decreased. Best of all - nothing even close to a random shutdown. They replaced the heat sync, ram, the logic board, and I think even the processor and a few other items, so I give them the benefit of the doubt on the repair side. They even backed up everything for me, so when I got my macbook back it was like the day I sent it in (minus the problems). As far as I can tell this is going to run like a charm for the next 5+ years, just like every other mac I have owned. I am probably going to go buy a 2nd macbook this weekend.

I bet that we have another mole! Too much praise in a posting from someone who has suffered RSD spiced with the famous Apple Service. Even want to buy another MacCrapBook.

The Macbook must be the most spectacular cock-up in Apple - nay computer history. So bad. The Sinclair C5 ‘car of the future but not’ of laptops.

It’s a shame because my old iMac G5 is still running like a dream years later.

I have had similar positive experiences with my MacBook repairs.. second time fixed it. First repair was so early that it was before the true problem had been identified. Both repairs took a week each. First time replaced hard drive only, second time hard drive, heat sync, sensor, logic board. I still love using this machine (my first Mac) and would recommend it again.

i’d appreciate it this could be filed under the ‘apple fixed it’ tag.

i know everyone is upset with apple for their quality control, and they deserve to know that they cut a few too many corners in getting the product out the door, but in general you have to realize the company has had a reasonably decent track record making mostly reliable machines. there are the occasional recalls of various items, but i don’t see anything that much different than sony and lenovo recalling their laptop lithium batteries because they explode. in fact, intermittent problems like RSS are really hard to anticipate, because in general they aren’t totally consistent. apple is cranking these things out in china because we want a faster, cheaper laptop, and that’s automatically going to mean a few negative issues. better, faster, cheaper - pick any two…
