hope it’s not a false alarm… but my rss has ceased.

3x clean 4+ hour bootups, most consecutive non rss’ing since Sep. 6th or whenever i posted first on “the list” around the 3-400 mark.

I put some more arctic silver on my CPUs, they were a tad dry in spots. released the black temp sensor cables from their clamps to the heatsink, they now live neatly between the fan & the clamps. I did wrap them with elec. tape. I got one shutdown within 15, so I removed the tape. Rebooted. Ran ‘yes’ test for 1 hour plus browsing & burning CDs. Also changed batteries, but have run off AC and batt. 3 times now. :)

My temps really haven’t changed much, according to CDtemp 55+ idle 70+ load. BUT I can touch the above F4 again without it feeling burning hot.

I DONT RECOMMEND POPPING IT OPEN UNLESS YOU ARE COMFORTABLE AND KEEP TRACK 100% OF THE SCREWS. NOTE: DONT BEND THE FAN COVER, IT’S VERY THIN ! USE A MINI FLATHEAD TO ASSIST WITH THE MINI PHILIPS. AND BEST OF LUCK.

The longer I don’t post the more this fixed it. I can’t be without this personal computer, it is doing some important work and was fine for 3 months till rss. gonna sell this beast asap.

Regardless of whether Apple do a recall I will never buy one of their products again.

I think this is an eye-opener for all the naive people (me included) who thought Apple actually gave a crap! Steve Jobs is no different to Bill Gates.

My Macbook is getting worse everyday. I can’t believe they can get away with this?!

    What a rort.

it’s not Apple nor Steve’s fault…it’s the damn intel fault..they should use powerpc prossesor like day times..

I think you all give Apple a really hard time, and expect far more out of them than you would any other laptop producer, like Dell.

I’ve bought more Dell laptops for my company that have had to be sent back within the first month than I ever had with Apples. That includes the new Macbooks. Also, Apple’s customer service are more than willing to solve your problems if you run into them.

I also personally run a black Macbook with Windows always running in he background using Parallels virtualization, and I’ve never had an unexpected shutdown/freezup/hiccup/temper tantrum, etc. I do think that because laptops are mass produced (these ones come from China) that you are bound to get a few in every batch that don’t last long. That is life. Don’t bash a whole company based off of one isolated experience that has left you jaded.

Apple base their marketing on the fact that they are ABOVE other companies. They have an advert mocking the PC’s penchant for cutting out.

It is clear that Apple is no different to PC’s these days and, themonkman, you are right – we shouldn’t expect anything special from Apple compared to any company…

    NOT ANYMORE anyway!
