<description>So, I've had it home for four days and --- white screen followed by vertical lines. I called AppleCare and they indicated a PRAM reset and upgrade to 10.4.8 is the fix.

Guess that's ok - better than sending it in, but what next? I wonder. I have no confidence the machine isn't going to summarily die, tomorrow or the next day.

Sigh. I guess I'm going to have to sign up for AppleCare, to keep this thing going. Just going to have to factor it into the overall cost of the machine.

<description>Fixed in 1 day. Simply bought ProCare and was able to have a one day turn around. Seems like they have the parts in the store - quick fix. One part, Heatsink kit, with Spnge 1.0 mm Conn. I am very happy after months of frustration.</description>

<description>Think I read somewhere that if they couldn't fix it in 20 days, they send you a new one.

Might want to ping them on that.

		<description>Yeah, hardly.

I'm not an employee of anyone, except on a temporary basis. And that only when I have to.

I don't know why I got such prompt service, other than perhaps Apple is getting their hands around this. Again, I suspect that, as I said in the original post, forums like this are bringing the issue to the forefront.
