My MacBook reputed fixed and on it’s way back

September 27th, 2006 2 Comments »

We’ll see if they’ve fixed it.

Surprising it’s related to heat – mine was rarely on long enough to warm up. When it was warmed up, it ran fine.

Anyway, Apple has their eyes on it. Which means, I suppose, that this forum and others like it have served to club them over the head.

We’ll see how it goes when it gets back.

repair…

September 27th, 2006 3 Comments »

My Macbook was suffering from RSS for a couple of months now, but I waited to send it in because I could get it to operate…well enough, but the problem only got worse. I sent it in on Sept. 12th. and according to the apple repair status checker, it entered the repair phase on the 19th. It has not changed since. I am a college student whose major relies on computers heavily and it is difficult not having my computer and I think this repair is taking a bit to long, and this problem is a bit ridiculous in the first place. I am hoping it will come back soon, but it is hard to tell. A user in this apple forum (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=660995&tstart=0) reports that his macbook as been gone for over a month and apparently apple is “keeping” the macbooks. I don’t know how true these statements are, but my repair is take it’s time.

September 26th, 2006 4 Comments »

So after posting the petition up a few times i find it interesting that all of sudden i can’t get into the apple discussion forum. so everyone keep posting the petition and whatever complaints anywhere you can. keep up the fight . judging by the the deletion of your posts on the apple site and the apple spy on our site i think they may be feeling the pressure. no sleep till we get answers. KEEPING UP THE FIGHT

I have done my bit.. I filed a complaint with :-

http://www.econsumer.gov/

http://www.econsumer.gov/english/index.html

I am sure they will investigate this…..

For other countries: -

http://www.econsumer.gov/english/contentfiles/agencies.html

Apart from complaining to your countries Consumer Protection Agency do also post your complaint to the first link (US Govt.) even if you are not a US Citizen.

If you have other links, please tell us about them.

Apart from describing my problem, I have filed that this is a LEMON product, Apple should recall it. And Apple be asked to pull the current Macbook line off the shelf.

Apple deleted petition from discussion forum

September 26th, 2006 5 Comments »

So i posted my distress and some comments about how everyone on the apple discussion forum should come to this site and fight the good fight. i also posted a copy of the recall petition. so i go out and come back to see (only about an hour had pasted) that they deleted my post off the site. FUNNY HUH. i am going to keep posting it up there until they kick me off the discussion forum. i suggest everyone here do the same. keep posting the petition on the their site till they do something. we have to stand up to this CRAP-BOOK, and really put the pressure on them any way we can. i am ready to take this to any front i have to. who’s with me? lets get together and show them we mean business post the petition anywhere you can. i will personally be making copies of the macbook defects report at http://www.appledefects.com/wiki/index.php?title=MacBook and putting them on the screens of all the macbooks at my local apple store. ONCE AGAIN WHO’S WITH ME

Look who’s here – The official Apple – finally a response!

September 26th, 2006 7 Comments »

In my last posting, someone posted a really ‘polite’ comment to my post. Calling me an idiot, claiming I couldn’t spell et.c. – a bit childish if you ask me. The interesting bit is this – I have traced the IP address and guess what? It’s a comment from someone inside Apple (see below). How stupid can you be – not a clever thing to post from a company address!

Getting organised…

September 26th, 2006 8 Comments »

Hi all,

I just thought that we ought to get a bit organised in our effort. It will allow us to harvest from people’s expertise and geographical location. At present, I see that we have three focus areas that might be effective in the struggle:

1) Petition
2) Legal action
3) Media involvement

Of course there is going to be some synergy between the areas, but I hold the view that we need people to work on these as individual teams. Can the Wiki site be used for this – or is it only for the petition?

MacBook back from the shop

September 26th, 2006 2 Comments »

My BlackBook is back after about 2 weeks. They only replaced the Heatsync assembly. I’m not sure why they didn’t replace the logic board – maybe the finally figured out what the issue is.

It ran fine all last night – no RSS . . . yet. I’ll post again if the evil demon returns. I also noticed that the fan ran the entire time I had the computer on last night, and I think ran a little louder – maybe the new parts. I’m guessing they are trying to keep everything cooler now and have better heat management, but who knows how long a fan and motor can last running 100% of the time.

I guess with AppleCare I have three years where it won’t cost me anything, but its already cost me weeks without the computer, and hours of worrying and backing up data like an OCD patient. Worrying is somthing I never had to do with my PowerBook – it just ran and it still is, problem free.

It’s time Apple stopped focusing on haveing the thinnest, quietest, cutest machine on the market and realize why their core customers buy their machines – reliability. Of course, I guess the focus is on NEW customers now.

Alert : MacBooks can ruin your life!

September 26th, 2006 4 Comments »

it came back today. after 16 days without my computer and fast losing business i open the packaging eagerly, only to discover that they changed my hard disk. my heart hit the floor. no!

i told them that i you can’t backup when you have random shutdown. my macbook was shutting down every minute. i call support to try to speak to the repair shop, perhaps they still have it? but of course never get to speak to anybody who can help and i just get told that my hard drive was thrown away.

i could be ruined. backups have been impossible with random shutdown and i have been working on some critical projects over the last month. i am devastated.

why did they not replace my macbook, moving my data accross, as they should have? it was almost new. they replaced most of the computer anyway and have caused me a vast amount of avoidable suffering through this.

i never reported a fault with the disk and techincal support promised me that my data would be safe when i told them that i was hadn’t been able to back up. they had my number and they had my email but nobody contacted me.

well i have had apple computers. bought hundreds over the years for my various businesses, but this will be the last. they said we should think different! but apple are no different. just another bunch of greedy and dishonest people only worried about their share price.

i shall turn to drink and will be stoning my macbook tonight. i cannot stand the sight of it. it is grotesque.
