The repair IS replace the Heat Sink... I have perfored this repair... if you look at the heatsink, thermal sensor cables melt and short against it. The short shuts the machine down. period, end of story. The new Heat sink assemblys have a new material covering the wires. this will prevent the shutdown issue from ever happening again.

I think if I lived in a country outside North America I would insist on full replacement as well. My MacBook's been repaired for the second time, so far so good. First time was early on, so only replaced the HD, but second time Apple replaced HD, logicboard, and heat sink. My husband is in electronics manufacturing so I have a more realistic look (than some on this site) at how these things can happen and how they get handled by a manufacturer, thanks to him.
