looks like works with the MacBook SMC Firmware Update v1.1 MacBook Shutdown Fix!!

Macbook Freezing After Repair

Well, it’s been awhile since I wrote in. After Apple repaired the heat sink and logic board, my macbook has been RSS free for a month (still has some seriously loud fans and heat issues). Unfortunately, it appears that the OS or system itself has developed another problem. I was wondering if anyone has the same problem and if they know what might be the culprit. It seems to occur when Parallels (the application for virtual OS’s) is live.

Basically, the problem is that I try to put the computer in sleep, while on battery power, but it never really goes to sleep. It just gets really hot and I can’t seem to make the computer live again. The screen just stays black and I have to hold down the power button until the computer shuts down. Luckily, I don’t have to reset PMU.

When I reboot I get a problem report to send to mac as follows. Anyone have something related?

I have a similar problem but I hvaen’t sent mine in to have it fixed yet. I’ll try to suspend the computer or shut it down and instead of it shutting down/suspending, the screen goes black and it gets really hot. The fan goes to full power and it just sits there getting hotter and hotter till I hold the power button down and ask it to shut down (yet again). These macbooks are a pieces of shit.

  2. OS11 Says:

That’s just a problem with the underlying OS, just do an “Archive and Install” and your problem is solved.

It’s not a hardware problem, the MacBooks have been pretty great performers… and with the last remaining hardware issues being cleared up last week, it’s smooth sailing from here on out with them.

    Enjoy your MacBook!

AHCI means for Advance Host Controller Interface, this it the SATA controller in the MacBook, it looks like a problem with your hard drive and/or SATA controller.

    Regards.

Thanks Jessica. That’s exactly the problem I’m having too. It seems like there are some conflicting responses here. Not sure what to do about the SATA controller except bring it in to Apple. But I don’t understand why OS11 says it’s the OS… Anyway, I’m willing to try OS11’s suggestion…now how do I do an “Archive an Install”?

Regardless, I’m fixing, then selling this lemon. I don’t think macbooks have been great performers. I’ve had the RSS, the superdrive die, the OS freeze more times than I can imagine, MS products running at 1/2 (if I’m lucky) the speed because of Rosetta, and now this new sleep problem.

I too am having the same problem. I recently had the RAM and heat sync replaced and now my keyboard and mouse lock up COMPLETELY. I can’t do anything other than shut it down, let it cool off, and sometimes remove the battery as it cools faster that way. Any of these suggestions help?

Try drop kicking it for three. or just bitching at the people you bought it from. Yell long and loud and they might return. be prepared for about 10 hours on the phone, and don’t take no for answer. Or try what Idid. I Took it to the store to be fixed, and when they called for me to pick UP MY COMPUTOR I said its theirs. That didn’t go rihgt away. It took some FFFing off.that seem to finaly work. Ps try any thing Idid.

I am having the same problem too. It worked OK after repair, the freezing happened only after updating the new MacBook Firmware. Tried re-install OS, it happened less often, but still freezes!!

  8. Norvin Says:

    Hi all,
I bought my first Macbook in Thailand and had to return it due to a dead pixel however the machine worked fine and I was impressed with the speed over my old 1.3G iBook.
I was eager every day to work on it for the speed and performance, this was not to last.
Sadly it got stolen in the UK some months later and was replaced with a new one from the insurance company.
The first thing I noticed was that it did not have the glossy screen at the previous one and also the funny vertical “return” Key, Well I can live with missing the return key every now and then till I get used to it.
The main problem is that the Macbook is nothing like the old one 1.83 same memory 2G and a larger HD120meg, yet it is slower and even after reinstalling the system twice and running with no application installed apart from the Apple systems disk, the bloody mouse freezes every now and then just disappears for a second or two.
No pattern to it just disappears.
Open stickies copy and past a few times and the mouse is gone, writing most words have the first letter missing.

Well I will be eff ing and sending it back as I have not been able to repair it.
Any ideas what could bee the problem.

    Hi all,

For Norvin: “Desappearing mouse” is a known issue. Uncheck “Ignore accidental trackpad input” in Mouse and Keyboard Pref pane under the Trackpad tab.

My macbook come very hot also, and since one month, it freezes (without any crash log). Freezing seems be correlated with - relatively - long periods of use (and hot machine). Moreover, one pixel horizontal lines appears randomly on the screen (before the freezing, or after reboots). I have just installed SMCFan control to see if cooling the mac will correct this behavior…

    Cheers

My macbook freezes after I try to bring it out of the screensaver. I can’t change the screensaver, either. The window just shuts everytime I try to open it. I am so upset. I bought that computer with my own money. I have to write a paper today, and my stupid computer is frozen. All I see is my frozen screen saver and that stupid little spinning beach ball.

  11. Heather Nolen Says:

    Kelly -

Hopefully someone will answer because now my macbook is having a similar problem. The screen saver will come on, and I will go back to the machine and hit the track pad to bring it out of screen saver, but it just freezes until I hit the power button. Then, nothing works (keyboard or mouse) and I have to shut down the macbook and restart it. Hopefully someone has some helpful hints/suggestions!

    Thanks!

    Dear Ms. Nolen,
I am Pastor Saphano Riak Chol whom you met and interviewed in New Cush, Southern Sudan when you went with the team of the Church of the Brethren (COB) on peace mission in 1999.

Can you supply me with your current email address to communicate more. The address card you gave got lost.

I am still serving the Lord in Southern Sudan.

    May God bless you abundantly!

I am also excited to continue my self- made Leavenworth tradition of visiting this great home- decor shop where I always buy one– just one– napkin. So far, I have three mis- matched napkins from Leavenworth. Another thing I love about this home store…
