buggy CPU frequency-scaling on MacOs X? I didn’t want to…But I had to. So I did it.

Audio setting on the Macbook without using external speakers or headphones…

Since we seem to have a little quiet period with folks getting some relief with their RSS issues, I wanted to bring something up that has been a pet peeve of mine since I got the macbook. It’s probably just a config issue, but I have tried every which way this side of Texas to get the internal speakers to play at a volume that can be heard over any background noise.

I was reading a story about setting the headphone volume level on the Intel based Macs today and it reminded me how bad this pet peeve of mine annoys me. Anyone else have the issue where you can barely hear a DVD or song from iTunes out of your Macbook?

And yes, I have turned up all the settings from the OS’s software panel, etc. :)

Cheers! Matthew

Most Definitly this has been an issue for me too! The speakers are so quiet! I had to get external ones bc this got so annoying.

Interesting - glad to hear it’s not just me, lol. I guess we can hope for a firmware fix for this eh? :)

    Anyone else having the issue?

Yep, same for me. Can hardly hear music (or the error beep in my X window, although that might be a nuisance for anyone in my neighborhood).

My volume is low but not too annoying as I either use headphones or plug in speakers. Whats more worrying for me is the low volume of the microphone after update to 10.4.8. My friends can barely hear me on iChat and the same thing happens when you record something from your isight in iMovie. - Try it and see (or hear) for yourself!
Very annoying. I think an earase and install back to 10.4.6 might be the only solution.
Surprised there arent more people complainign about this.

Give up man!!! They fixed the RSS problem with just a firmware update now you dont have anything to du with this site but you dont want to loose your ads!!! But There is nothing more to complain!!!! The thing about the speakers is that they are Small Speakers!!! You cant do nothing with that… They are very small and that is it…

I own a macbook and have recently noticed that I cannot record an audible audio with quicktime pro using the internal microphone. When I opent the Sound preference and talk at a normal voice 18 inches from the mic it bearly registers. I was thinking this might be a defective mic but from previous comments someone suggested that the upgrade to 10.4.8 might be the culprit. Anyone else having this problem.

On new [20nov2006] MB, the sound was actually quite good, had the slide bar only 1/2 way, and sound was loud - especially for these small speakers. However, playing the same exact songs via updated iTunes… the sound level has decreased! Even w/ everything maxed out, its just barely audible. WTH???
