I bought my black macbook at the beginning of December and later that night had a random sudden shutdown. Not Good. Hoping this was just a quick glitch I thought nothing of it and moved on. Within about ten days it happened about 7 times before I had to leave the country for a long overseas vacation. When I returned I tried to bring it back but unfortunately I couldn’t even get anyone to look at it because I exceeded my 15 days. I even had procare but I was told I would have to wait to have someone “look at it.”
To make a long story short, I was incredibly worked up and wrote a heated email to the store and then replied all including Steve Jobs on the email with a over the top subject line which read: “Shoddy products, long lines, hidden service costs, waste of my time: How Apple clawed its way to the top and will plummet to the bottom.”
5 minutes later someone called me and told me to come over to the store and I would be taken care of. I went over again….swapped mine out for a brand new machine and all seemed well.
Two days later it suddenly made me restart. its happened twice since. tomorrows the last day I can return it so I plan on doing so. However, I like the machine…I just want one that won’t have this problem…..what do I do??? Do I get a full refund or ask for a new machine? All I want is something that’s stable.
I’ve had a mac since the classic and have only had one problem with the 13” power book when it first came out…..it had a lot of problems actually. It just permanently conked out on me in December in which I said “screw it” and got the new machine. My belief is that Apple is rushing too much to get its product into the market and not testing them thoroughly.
Hi every body, i’m from austria and very angry about Apple. End of September 2006, i was buying a macbook. On the same day i see, that the cdrom drive was not working. i called my dealer and ordered a new cd drive. during this time, when i was waiting for the drive, my macbook always shutdown. again i called my dealer and told them my problems. The answer was: we know this problem, the logic board have a serial foult. After 2 weeks waiting for the cd drive, they changed the drive and the logic board.
1 1/2 month later the same problem. The mac book shut down and was not able to put on again. Now i wait 4 weeks for my book. 1st. logicboard deffect, 2nd. front case must get changed.
i am very angry about this. maybe apple have good products but the service in a case of problems is horrable. I think i will never again buy an apple produkt.
Well, I was out of town last week and went to plug in our Macbook to the Ethernet in the hotel and could never get a signal - very very weird - I had the hotel replace the modem in the room as I knew it wasn’t our macbook - they replaced the modem and still nothing -
The tech had a pc laptop to test with - he plugged in and right away had power and internet - oi vey I thought.
I plugged in our Macbook to recharge the battery last night and now the battery won’t charge. Apple is sending out another one but I wonder if that is why our Ethernet didn’t work by chance?? hope it’s just the battery! Dohhhhhh!!!
The Pins that the battery connects to inside the macbook have a small wire going to the motherboard. This connection can get very loose, as its just a plug and not soldered. I fixed a macbook by simply putting blu-tac on this to hold it. This fixed my - no battery - random shutdown- shutdown on movement problems completely.
It’s official! It will be called the iPhone and will run OSX - Engadget is reporting that Apple’s new iPhone is ready for prime time and will be gulp, $599 with a 2 year service contract - here is a teaser - be sure to read the full article over at Engadget! It runs OSX, Safari, Google Maps, iPhoto and much, much more!
Operation “Free the wire from scorching hot metal”. Originally posted Oct 2. Running great since! wouldn’t bother unless you are really not able to lose you macbook for a while. mark your screws.
