Hi

My husband and I bought two macbooks refurbed off the apple site in January. Mine hasn't had the problem (knock on wood), but his has to the point of frustration. I haven't taken it to mac since I know how they work where if you can't reproduce the problem with them there, it's not going to get fixed. What did they end up doing to resolve the problem? I want to get it fixed, I just don't have the applecare and it's been 4 months so I'm not sure if it's covered.

Thanks! :)

Take it in to the Apple Store. It's a known problem and easily fixed. The person on the phone should have known: it's got something to do with a short-circuit and heat-sink paste. I had the same problem with mine, sent it in, and it came back in perfect condition. Haven't had a problem with it since. Runs like a champ and is still the best computer I've ever owned.
