i have the mac book and its charger was misplaced. My location Lahore Pakistan where apple accessories are difficult to locate. i arranged its charger through a friend in u.k. As the machine lying for more than four months unused and now after attaching the charger battery is totally dead. Any solution/help will be appreciated. It was working fine earlier and showing 100% and now a cross is appearing. I charged it for more than two hours and stop doing further so that may not damaged other parts. Help will be appreciated.
Proper firmware fix?? I thought that Apple already issued one. It successfully fixed my random shutdowns and those of 4 other MB owners I know.

BTW, I too used that same temp fix that you've mentioned until I was able to download the firmware update.

Good luck!

Sounds like the same issue that Apple had with the first PowerBooks it released. PowerBook 100, 140, and 170.
