Why no links to Apple RSD support downloads?
Hi all,
It’s been a long time since I’ve visited the MRSD site. I had the dreaded shutdowns up until October last year. The firmware patch released by Apple successfully fixed my problem and I haven’t had a shutdown since. My question is why the homepage for macbookrandomshutdown.com doesn’t have links to some of the primary support downloads that Apple has released to address shutdown related behavior? (did I miss something?) Most important was the 26 OCT 2007 firmware update which specifically addressed RSD (and fixed my RSD problem).
Second, many MB users with battery problems have noticed random shutdown-like behavior when their MB’s battery level still indicates over 25 percent remaining charge. Apple released a battery update on 14 MAY 2007 which has helped many people relieve this problem. Others that I know have easily exchanged their batteries which solved this problem.
Obviously these two Apple support downloads are not the only remedies for RSD, BUT they are the most common solutions, so it seems to me they should be blatantly mentioned on the macbookrandomshutdown.com homepage. Others may argue that OSX’s software update should automatically download these updates, but I personally know of a few cases when MB owners had to manually download and install these updates because, for whatever reason, software update did not catch them.
FWIW,

Thanks khunsanook for the suggestion, I have added it to the sidebar under categories
Cheers!

Great Matthew! Fast response. After reading through some other posts though i realized that the firmware patch was only for MB’s purchased up until late 2006. I hadn’t seen this before. The patch is still relevant though, so thanks for the link update
Good luck everyone

The solutions you mention don’t help with MacBook Pros. Still looking for the solution there, specific to the MBP. Bought mine Dec 06, started having RSS last month. Never heard anything about it before that.
