Crapbook Pro
15 day old Macbook Pro 15″ shut down when I was surfing the web. Confused as I was I tried to turn it back on but with little luck. It started and shut down again in a second or so, leaving no time even for the apple logo to appear on screen. Lucky for me it works perfectly fine when pluged to the wall, but the moment I unplug it dies… (by the way, the battery appears to be normal, fully charged, operational, no X… also did all the updates and button presses I could find) So, on my way to apple to see what happens. Thats my story.

Amazing! It dies 1 day after the generous apple return policy expires.
You can either go though months of yelling at apple, getting this one fixed or multiple replacement machines only to have the same problems over and over again. 1890+ macs registered here so far.
Or force the store to refund it now! If they refuse, you could persuade them by telling everyone in the store about your machine and this website.
Then GET A PC!! Realize XP and Vista are far better to OSX.
Be able to use the computer without worrying about if its going to die or not. It won’t (just stay away from Compaq, I prefer Dell and Toshiba).
And remember, if macs are so great, how come they are only 4% of the market?

it´s more than 4% but even if you were right don’t forget we are the top 4%.

Over at PC Mag there’s a prolonged discussion on the relative virtues of Mac and PC. Sounds like you guys should join in…(Dvorak just decided Macs are totally and inherently cool)… http://discuss.pcmag.com/forums/thread/1004382685.aspx

Sorry about your macbook. Here’s what is coming up:
random shut down
new case (if you have a white one)
battery replacement
hard drive replacement (I lost ALL my data yesterday)
motherboard replacement
We have 2 Macbooks and they both have the same problems and they are both pieces of crap. Apple sucks. My domain is MacbookSucks.com and it’ll be live today.

I have a MacBook Pro and my daughter also has one. She was having the same problem with the battery indicating a full charge but it was only working when plugged into the wall. I replaced her battery with mine and it worked fine. She took it in and they replaced her battery and now it works great. Right now on mine, I am getting those crazy shut downs but with the comments about the Apple Care I don’t think I will waste my money and extend the warranty. It use to be if the computer was dropped or whateever they would fix the problem but what computer doesn’t have little dings on it? It tells us Apple is having nothing but problems with their note book line.
Not good.

Same story for me as those above… my macbook pro 15″er just started randomly shutting down a few months after the warrantee expired. Only happens when I’m not plugged into the wall (thank god). But I agree, what good is a laptop that only works when plugged in to the wall socket.

I’m having a problem…My 2.4 core 2 duo 2gb ram MB Pro…
My power indicator on my screen says I have a battery life of 99%. If I flip the computer over and touch the indicator all leds light up - full power as well.
If I’m plugged in the mbp works great, but once I unplug within 3 seconds the whole mac will die. No shutdowns, no reboot. Just *click* - off. If I’m unplugged I can try and turn it on but I’ll hear the mac start but before the chime I’ll hear the *click* - and then nothing.
I’ve been to the apple store 2 days ago and they couldn’t reproduce the problem. But now it’s more prominent since. I’m going back today to see what they say when I don’t let them go to the back room or plug it in first. LED’s don’t lie…something they made is defective. Either it’s my MBP or the battery…or both.
I’ll let you all know how it goes. I bought my MBP in Aug ‘07.

You guys with battrie problems. it sounds like you guys did not train your battries. DUH! Macs are grate if you know how to take care of them, and use them right.

Are you people so devoted towards attacking mac that you must gather the vast MINORITY of idiots who can’t take care of one and thus broke it into one mac hating website so that all of you can repeat the same problems and find comfort in it together? You, and the idea behind this entire website is moronic and fueled solely by ignorance.
