Seagate Drives crashing Macbooks

Techshout has a great read on how Macbooks are crashing when running certain Seagate Hard Drives. Retrodata, a UK based data recovery firm has warned all Mac users and Apple that a batch of Seagate drives used in some MacBooks are defective. Retrodata told Information Week that Seagate 2.5 inch SATA drives revision 7.0.1 from China is a batch with flaws.
The drive’s read/write heads sometimes get detached from the drive. In this case they can scratch surface of the disk if the MacBook is not shut down immediately. Retrodata said that this issue is not small and Apple should take the responsibility of the problem by replacing the drives.
