I was typing up a paper at the end of my when my mac screen cracked. It started as a little black dot. I actually thought it was a bug or something, but it would not wipe off. Later that night when I opened up the screen again, it was gone. I forgot completely about it until opened it to use it once I got home in June and it was COVERED in dead pixels. I took it to the mac store where I bought it and they claimed I dropped it. I said I didn't. They said maybe I had closed a pen inside of it. I said no. He then asked me if I had a pet. I answered "yes a dog" wondering what that had to do with anything. He then told me maybe my dog had jumped onto the desk where I keep my macbook and stepped on it. My response? That I doubted my 125 pound german shepherd was practicing climbing maneuvers on my desk while I wasn't home. In that case, I am fairly certain that more than just my laptop screen would be cracked. I argued with this guy for an hour. When he claimed it would cost me 800 dollars to fix it I told him I loved my Mac but I wasn't paying 800 buicks for a screen to a computer that originally only cost me 1000. He told me instead of sending it off they would fix it in store for only 400 dollars. I would have preferred that my warranty cover it like I think it SHOULD, but 400 dollars was more livable than 800. So dont give up! Ask them to fix it in store! The turn around rate for mine was 24 hours. Originally I was going to pay 800 and get it back in 4-6 weeks and that changed to 400 and get it back the next day. Apple is just out for money. Dont be afraid to argue

Dead logic board….exactly the same happened to my G3 iBook years ago, and after about 8 new logic boards I gave up. The problem wasn’t fixed in the new logic boards….So many people had the same problem it was all over google. If you took it apart, and “wedged” the graphics chip in place, then it would work for a few more months….
